White Charcoal Styrofoam Cups



Students were given black paper and white charcoal and were to draw the Styrofoam cups in their tables. Class lights were turned off and spot lights turned on the cups.

Still Life
Students have to draw a realistic drawing from a still life. They are trying to capture exactly what they see in their drawing.


Color Mixing Hands
Students has to trace their hands on top of each other. Students had to paint in their hands with the primary colors and then create the mixed colors where the hands and their colors overlapped.


Blind Contour Complementary Color Portrait


Students drew blind contour portraits of a partner in class. They then painted them in with watercolors, using only a complimentary color pair. Each shape that touched could not be the same color.
Radical Symmetry Mandalas




Students create a design and repeat it six times in radical repetition. They then painted in their design with watercolors, using a specifically cool, warm, or analogous color palette.
Total Abstraction
Oil Pastels
Students listen to jazz music and draw out the shapes they hear. Then they color them in using oil pastels and gradation.


Relief Printmaking
Students practice relief printmaking. Students create an edition of prints from a linoleum block.
















Fairy Tale Shadow Boxes
Students have to research a fairy tale. Summarize it into four main events and then evaluate how to retell it using only positive and negative space.
Themed Books
Students had to create a full 10 page book with front and back cover that all revolved around one theme.
